Abu Sayeed Mohammad Quasem, a 1963 Mechanical Engineering graduate from BUET, is the founder of Newage Garments Ltd, established in 1984. Under his leadership, the Newage Group has grown to encompass multiple garment manufacturing units, a knit textile mill, and a plastic injection molding plant, employing nearly 9,500 people with an annual turnover of $100 million. He co-sponsored the Credit Rating Agency of Bangladesh Ltd and served in notable roles such as President of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Vice President of ICC-Bangladesh, and founder Chairman of BIMST-EC Business Forum. A seasoned consultant for the International Trade Centre (ITC), Mr. Quasem has provided expertise on textile sector development globally. He is the Founder and General Secretary of Gulshanara Razzaque Foundation, managing initiatives like a free school, hospital, and nursing college for underserved communities. He is also a trustee of RADDA MCH-FP Centre and the DCCI Foundation, contributing significantly to healthcare and social services in Bangladesh.
